Deacon Gary and Lynne Brys are happy to be home once again as a diaconate couple! They look forward to serving our St. Rose of Lima Parish community with the direction of our pastor, Fr. Michael Baricuatro. They moved to Roseville from the Bay Area in 1988 and became parishioners, active in the parish school and with church ministries. They have three children who all attended St. Rose School and later onto three of the Catholic High Schools. Two children graduated from Catholic Universities and one from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. All three children are married, and they are blessed with four grandchildren and four granddogs. Lynne served St. Rose School employed as the Administrative Assistant/ Registrar for 18 years, providing love and support to thousands of St. Rose students, faculty, and administrators. Deacon Gary also worked with the school as the technology coordinator under the direction of two principals. A matter of a fact, Marie Giorgi, principal of the school at the time, had the foresight to be one of the first to bring technology into the classrooms, making St. Rose School a pioneer for other schools in our diocese. Deacon Gary and Lynne entered Diaconate formation in 2013, sponsored by St. Rose of Lima Parish, after years of discernment and guidance from the Holy Spirit, many St. Rose priests, deacons, Sr. Mary Brett, and parishioners throughout the years. In 2015, Lynne was asked to be the Liturgy Coordinator and was employed by the Parish through November 2022. Upon Ordination in 2018, Deacon Gary was assigned to St. Maria Goretti Parish in Elk Grove and served there until May 1, 2022. May 2, 2022, Deacon Gary was asked to be the Business Manager at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament by the Very Reverend Fr. Michael O’Reilly where he continues to serve. Deacon Gary became a Law Enforcement Chaplain in 2019, where he continues to serve Law Enforcement Agents/Deputies/Officers, staff, and their families. He is also as a Law Enforcement Liaison for the Diocese of Sacramento serving with Fr. Joseph Ternullo. Deacon Gary and Lynne were assigned to St. Rose of Lima Parish January 2, 2023, serving as a deacon couple to the Parish Community. They shared; “it is great to be home!” They are excited to assist the Pastor where needed and look forward to serving the St. Rose of Lima Parish community. They extend to each of you a prayer of God’s Peace and Blessings and are most grateful for being a part of this great parish!
