Are you interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister
at St. Rose of Lima Parish?
You may ask, what's an Extraordinary Minister?
"Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion" is the formal title of laypeople who distribute the Eucharist during Mass. As the title implies, there are also "ordinary ministers" - those who are literally "ordained" to the ministry namely bishops, priests, and deacons. In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be sufficient number of ministers to reverently/ distribute Holy Communion, especially when Communion is offered under the both species: the Body and Blood of Christ. This is why laypeople are needed to serve in this ministry. It is indeed an honor to be able to offer the Body and Blood of Christ to a fellow member of His body.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion receive spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence. The preparation given at St. Rose of Lima Parish addresses the practical manner in which to handle the consecrated bread and wine. It also focuses on the understanding that a Minister of Communion is serving the true presence of the Lord.
A complete description of the regulations may be found in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' ( Norms for the Distribution and Reception of Holy Communion Under Both Kinds for the Dioceses of the United States of America, NDRHC, No. 28.)
Please prayerfully consider this beautiful ministry.

The Ministry to the Sick is taking on a new mission and a new name.
Journey in the Spirit Ministry
Journey in the Spirit Ministers are people who are called by the Holy Spirit to be of service to the lonely, sick, dying and those suffering from loss. With the Ministers’ dedication, compassion, and love for the work they are doing in this Sacramental Ministry, all things come together for the greater glory of God and His church on earth. When we share in Presence, Prayer, and the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, we are bringing support, comfort and hope. Listening with compassion and letting Christ lead us, we strive to do nothing except let Him speak, let Him touch, and let Him heal His people.
What can we do for you?
“The Church is always at prayer in her ministers and her people,
and that prayer takes various forms in her life.
Singing is one of the primary ways that the assembly
of the faithful participates actively in the Liturgy.”
-Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship- 2007
Music is a vital part of our liturgical celebrations. Our parish is blessed with an all-volunteer group of musically-talented individuals who share their gifts by leading our congregation in song. St. Rose of Lima Parish offers a diverse program of liturgical music to enhance the experience of the assembled congregation including Adult and Spanish Choirs, Life Teen Music Ministry and Cantors.
Music Ministry: Christine Amurao 916 390-9682
The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the Word of God by utilizing the powerful gift of music and song to praise Him. This ministry incorporates liturgical Catholic music within the celebration of the Mass to provide encouragement to the faithful in their walk with Christ.
God has given both man and angels the gift of music-making.
(Genesis 4:21; Job 38:7).
Do you sing or play a musical instrument? The music ministry is open to all parishioners who have a desire to share their God-given talents.
In the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, the term "lector" or "reader" can mean someone who in a particular liturgy is assigned to read a Biblical text other than the Gospel. (Reading the Gospel at Mass is reserved specifically to the Priest or, in his absence, to the Deacon.)
Training is available for those interested in becoming an Usher / Collector of the Offertory Gifts. It is our hope to have eight ushers assisting at each Mass. Thank you.

We would invite anyone with a smile and willing heart to join our Welcome Ministry. It's the best way to meet new people and greet them into our vibrant community with God's Love.
