Realizing the first catechists in any child’s life are the parents and other family members with whom he or she lives, we offer the Family Catechesis Model to our faith formation program. The sessions are led in English on Sunday mornings and in Spanish (with a Bilingual component for the children) on Friday evenings.This program is for families with children from First Grade to Sixth Grade.
Sundays from 8:45 – 10:15 am, families (English) attend the in-person sessions.Fridays from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, families (Spanish) attend the in-person sessions.Twice a month, families will be provided with resources to nurture their faith in their homes --- the Domestic Church.English Parent Orientation (Parents Only)September 5, 2026, 2 - 4 PM in the GymEnglish Family Orientation (Parents & Children)September 13, 2026, 8:45 - 10:15 AM in the Gym

Conscientes de que los primeros catequistas en la vida de cualquier niño son sus padres y otros miembros de la familia con quienes vive, ofrecemos el Modelo de Catequesis Familiar en nuestro programa de formación en la fe. Catechesis of the Good ShepherdThe Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a distinct Montessori-based approach to Christian formation, through which children as young as three form deep, lifelong relationships with Christ. Young children learn best by actively engaging their whole bodies and all their senses. Originating in Rome in the 1950s, CGS engages children in age-appropriate, beautifully crafted hands-on materials, based on Sacred Scripture and the Liturgy. The children immerse themselves in a quiet, retreat-like environment.CGS at St.Rose educates children in The Catholic Faith, from the ages of 3 through 9. It has the approval of Bishop Jaime Soto, whom we quote: “The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd meets or exceeds the catechetical requirements for children to first receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion …” Nov 2, 2011La Catequesis del Buen Pastor (CGS) es un enfoque único de formación cristiana basado en el método Montessori, a través del cual los niños, desde los tres años, establecen relaciones profundas y duraderas con Cristo. Los niños pequeños aprenden mejor cuando participan activamente con todo su cuerpo y todos sus sentidos. Originaria de Roma en la década de 1950, la CGS involucra a los niños con materiales prácticos, bellamente elaborados y adecuados a su edad, basados en las Sagradas Escrituras y la liturgia. Los niños se sumergen en un ambiente tranquilo, similar al de un retiro.
El programa CGS de St. Rose educa a los niños en la fe católica, desde los 3 hasta los 9 años. Order of Christian Initiation for ChildrenOrden de la Iniciación Cristiana para NiñosFor children and youth who are seven years and older, who have NOT been baptized.The first year of preparation, parents and child will:
- Attend Sunday or Friday Family Catechesis in-person sessions
- Complete home lessons
- Attend Mass and parish additional events
The second year of preparation, parents and child will:- Attend the OCIA Family Catechesis in-person sessions on Sundays, at 8:45 – 10:15 am.
- Complete home lessons
- Attend events such as OCIA rites and retreat
- Attend Mass and parish additional events
Para niños y jóvenes de siete años en adelante que NO hayan sido bautizados.Durante el primer año de preparación, los padres y el niño:- Asistirán a las sesiones presenciales de catequesis familiar los domingos o los viernes
- Realizarán las lecciones en casa
- Asistirán a la misa y a los eventos adicionales de la parroquia
Durante el segundo año de preparación, los padres y el niño: - Asistirán a las sesiones presenciales de catequesis familiar de la OCIA los domingos, de 8:45 a 10:15 de la mañana.
- Realizarán las lecciones en casa.
- Asistirán a eventos como los ritos y el retiro de la OCIA.
- Asistirán a la misa y a otros eventos de la parroquia.

Through prayer, Scripture, and the everyday kindness we show one another, we learn to listen for Christ’s voice and follow Him more closely.As Pope Francis reminds us, “the home is the Domestic Church.” Home is the first and most important place where faith is learned and lived, and where a child often first encounters Jesus Christ. When families place Christ at the center of their lives, they grow closer to one another, build a strong foundation of faith, and come to see that their love is rooted in God’s love. Even in busy weeks and difficult seasons, His presence steadies us, and our Catholic faith strengthens and unites our families.
