LAY MINISTRY FORMATION AND SUPPORT! It is with great excitement Deacon Kevin Staszkow, Director of Lay Formation, announces the Diocese of Sacramento's partnership with the Dominican School of Philosophy to offer a Master's Degree Program for lay persons within our diocese in both English and Spanish. In collaboration with the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, we are excited to announce a new MA degree option for advanced formation. The Master of Arts in Theology for Ecclesial Mission is a four-year, part-time hybrid (online/in-person) program designed to form the laity for co-responsibility for the Church’s mission. This program will combine weekly online contact with monthly in-person classes, based at the Pastoral Center in Sacramento. Each year there will be a short intensive residential in Berkeley during the summer. If you are a catechist, school teacher or administrator, are involved in parish leadership, faith formation, youth ministry, or are simply interested in a formal study of theology in a way that is manageable while working, this program may be for you!
Candidates should desire to serve the church as a volunteer or paid staff member in a psatoal role and must have a Bachelor's degree. The first cohort will start in Summer 2022. An information session via zoom is scheduled on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 6 pm Please visit www.scd.org/graduateprograms for more information. Financing a Master's degree may be difficult, with this in mind, a limited amount of Diocesan scholarships may be available. For more information please contact Lauralyn Solano, Assistant Director for Lay Formation at isolano@scd.org or 916-733-0153.
