Parish Ministries

Altar Servers – Joy Robles 786-0655 liturgy@stroserosevilleca.com

The altar servers assist the priests during Mass by performing specific duties. Annual Commissioning and pancake breakfasts are conducted in affirmation of this ministry. Altar servers are boys and girls who are baptized Catholics, fifth grade or older, and have received First Holy Communion.

The Altar Society creates a pleasant enriching environment in which to worship, making  sure everything is clean and ready for Mass by taking care of the priests and altar servers’ garments, flowers, and light cleaning. Volunteers are asked to sign up for one month a year. During that month, they are responsible for cleaning two times a week.  The Altar Society meets monthly on the first Tuesday of every month at 1:00pm.

Arts and Environment committee – Paula Bristol 220-1967

The committee visually enhances the worship at all St. Rose liturgies through the use of banners, colors, flowers, and other artistic impressions that support the liturgy and season of the Church year. The committee meets monthly, or as neded. Donations from the parish community are always welcome.

The Committee hosts funeral receptions, as needed for deceased parishioners. Tasks include preparing and serving food (or obtaining donations), setting up, taking down and cleaning the Parish Hall.

This dynamic Bible study and prayer group for teens and adults meets Mondays from 8-9:30pm in the Convent Chapel. Come experience the Word in a whole new interactive way.

The Liturgy of the Word is adapted for the young children of St. Rose. Children are invited to the Parish Hall during the 9:00am Mass to share in song, discussion, and crafts that support the Gospel message. The children re-join the parish family during the Preparation of the Gifts to continue their worship.

Group meets once a week to help children learn and understand and pray the rosary. Any age is welcome but lessons are focused on Kindergarten through third grade age group. This group meets year-round, temporarily at someone’s home, once a week on Thursdays 3:30-4:30.

Circle of Friends provides support for those who are in the first stages of separation, divorce, death of a spouse or termination of a long-term relationship. We offer encouragement to those who have grown beyond this initial period and are ready to move forward. General meetings are on the first and third Sunday of each month at one of the various churches in our region. Social activities are held throughout each month.

This is a private association of faithful committed to the work of evangelization and family life renewal. Our core values are: to be centered on Christ, to be evangelistic and missionary, and to defend and strengthen Christian marriage. Families join by enrolling in a 9-week “Christian Life Seminar.”

The Cursillo Weekend consists of three days of prayer, analysis, and personal reflection, bringing the participants to a deeper relationship with God. The fourth day of all Cursillo Weekends is presented as “the rest of your life.” In addition to Cursillo Weekends, there are periodic Ultreya meetings, which are reunions of Cursillo Weekends; an annual multi-cultural Mass; and fourth Day support groups held throughout the Diocese.

Engaged Encounter provides five to six weekend retreats for engaged couples at Christ the King Retreat Center. Please call if you would like to help plan the retreats or are an engaged couple wanting to participate in a retreat.

Eucharistic ministers assist our priests at Mass with distribution of Holy Communion. An annual Convocation and periodic meetings are conducted to review and renew this ministry. Ministers of the Holy Eucharist must be practicing Catholics and at least 18 years old. 

Front Door Ministry -  Diane Russell 783-5211

Volunteers staff the parish office during “Front Door Ministry” hours (Tuesdays and Wednesday 10am-12pm) to help anyone needing anything from help with a utility bill to parenting help.

This is a ministry dedicated to promoting health care reform in accordance with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ call to: Include health care coverage for all people from conception until natural death, and continue the federal ban on funding for abortions. Include access for all with a special concern for the poor. Pursue the common good and preserve pluralism, including freedom of conscience. Restrain costs and apply costs equitably among payers.

Lunches are donated, prepared, and delivered to the homeless in the park every day. To help volunteer, call Dona. You can donate pre-packaged snacks such as chips, cookies, juices, or fruit cups in the front of the Religious Education office.

Hosting hospitality (Donut Sunday) the First Sunday of every month. Groups or individuals host the Hospitality table to spread Fellowship in our community.

Italian Catholic Federation- Robert Del Pippo 783-5192

The Italian Catholic Federation is a family-oriented, non-profit fraternal organization dedicated to promoting activities that build family spirit and bring men and women of all ages together. The Knights of Columbus and their families are committed to the exemplification of charity, unity, fraternity, and the defense of the Priesthood. St. Rose’s Fr. Grealy Council #4540 works diligently in the support of St. Rose school and Chruch, Priest Vocations, St. Vincent de Paul, Christmas Basket Program, Pro-Life efforts, the Intellectually Disabled and other ministries and activities for the betterment of our community. The Oktoberfest and other dinner dances, along with Pancake Breakfasts are filled with fun, fellowship, and food!

The Lazarus Project provides transitional housing and support services to the homeless men and women in Placer County. Volunteer opportunities include meal preparation, painting, plumbing, tutoring, answering phones, donation pick-up, computer training, transportation, cooking classes, fundraising, small group facilitation, auto repair, counseling services, grant writing, etc.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass. Periodic meetings are held to review the ministry and for training and updates. Lectors must have strong speaking skills, a commitment to practice, and a love for God’s Holy Word.

The ministry encourages all married couples to fulfill their wedding vows and recognize that the true function of marriage is for a husband and a wife to help each other: become the person God created him/ her to be. This is accomplished by supporting, enriching, and maintaining our relationships with other couples committed to the Sacrament of Marriage and our Catholic Faith.

Groups of 4-6 couples meet monthly in each others’ homes to discuss self-determined topics in varying formats. An introductory session is offered before each group is formed.

This ministry serves the parish through the gift of music. Cantors, vocalists, and instrumentalists encourage full and active participation of the community during our liturgies. “To sing is to pray twice!” an annual music workshop is conducted featuring a music clinician. Weekly rehearsals are required and lots of practice is encouraged!

The Ministry of Mothers Sharing provides a warm and welcome space for mothers to grow spiritually and personally while sharing in the joys and challenges of motherhood. The ministry offers an 8-week journal session and retreats.

Ministers of the sick distribute Holy Communion and pray with our homebound or hospitalized who cannot attend Mass. Daily visits are instrumental in keeping the homebound and ill connected to the Church and our St. Rose Community. Training is provided.

The Charismatic Renewal prayer group glorifies Jesus through praise, worship, and scripture; invoking all the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Tongues, Prophecy, and the Laying on of Hands. Gatherings are held every Tuesday at 7:30pm.

Volunteers offer their individual prayers and daily sacrifices for the intentions of others. The chairperson receives requests and passes them on through the list of volunteers. Prayer requests include first names only.

Volunteers are the arms and legs of Jesus Christ as they visit with prisoners in the Folsom Prison System under the direction of the Prison Chaplain. Volunteers help prisoners receive support through prayer, companionship, and Holy Communion.

Religious education classes are provided for pre-school through 5th grade students who are not currently enrolled in Catholic Schools. Classes are conducted on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00p.m. or Sundays from 10:30 to 11:30a.m. Preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation is offered in the appropriate grades. Training is provided for volunteer catechists.

Meet monthly – first Wednesday of every month in the evening. The focus of this ministry is to support pro-life issues. To respect life means to honor life as sacred from the moment of conception until natural death – whether a human person’s body consists of only two cells, or whether it is sick and suffering in old age. Respect life programs within the Diocese of Sacramento carry this message forward with love and compassion. Pro-life activities range from education about Natural Family Planning and chastity to comprehensive weekend retreats for healing after abortion. We also offer resources and work closely with the California Catholic Conference to provide resources and support for all pro-life issues relevant to the dignity and rights of all people.

RCIA offers information about the Catholic Faith to non-Catholics and provides preparation to receive the Sacraments of Initiation for those who wish to become Catholic. RCIA meets weekly to share Church teachings and faith.

Seniors gather every Thursday in the Parish Hall for Gospel, Good Eats, Gab, and Gusto! Each week begins at 4:30 with faith sharing, followed by dinner at 6:00pm for $7, and concludes with a different activity each week at 7:00pm.

St. Rose School is a co-ed Catholic K-8 school that provides a vigorous Academic education, integrating elements of faith with the learning process while meeting the needs of each individual child. Vacation Bible Camp is conducted for one week in the summer from 9AM-12Noon. Children are introduced to various Scripture readings, discussion, songs, games, and crafts that complete a central theme for the week. Dates are announced in the spring.

Committee members and their families are available before and after each Mass to personally welcome new parishioners and guests. Each newly registered family is given a welcoming packet with helpful information about the parish. Committee members encourage new parishioners to get involved in the parish and answer questions about the various parish activities and ministries.

St. Vincent de Paul recognizes and responds to the demands of the needy. The facility operates with few full-time employees; the majority of the work being completed by the support of volunteers in a variety of areas, including the operation of the Food Locker, Dining Room and Thrift Store. The Coalition also works with Placer County Medical to bring a free clinic to Roseville, every Wednesday and a pediatric clinic the first Tuesday of every month. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available by calling.

The Gathering Inn provides overnight accommodations, meals, hope, and hospitality to people in churches scattered throughout South Placer County. A variety of social services aer offered at the Gathering Inn’s intake sites. Thousands of volunteers and mor than 32 churches, incuding St. Rose participate in this ministry of mercy and compassion. Volunteers need to sign up in the fall to help with St. Rose’s hosting weeks, which are the end of December and beginning of January each year.

WWJD compassionately helps homeless people meet basic needs and encourages their transition to independence. Volunteers serve a hot breakfast and a bag of food for dinner to the homeless each day. Volunteers purchase food, stock the supply van, offer first-aid and medical care, refer clients to appropriate social service agencies, provide transportation to medical and other appointments, assist with paperwork, and provide sleeping bags, tarps, clothes, and toiletries free of charge.
