The Boles Fire has destroyed the church and the hall at Holy Family Catholic Parish in Weed, California, along with more than 100 homes and businesses. Water sources have been contaminated and there is no electricity in the town. May families are suffering enormous loses due to the fire. Some with very little have lost everything.
North Valley Catholic Social Services is working with Holy Family Parish in Weed and coordinating our response to this disaster. I have already authorized a grant for the relief efforts. Any one interested in making a donation may send it to:

Thank you for your support and prayers.
The Religious Education Department is staffed by volunteers.
Children and adults gather weekly to learn about Jesus and His Church, to deepen their faith and to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
It is volunteer catechists, echoing their own personal faith and relationship with Jesus, who facilitate this process. Catechists are called to lead others toward growth in faith and understanding of the tradition. They are teachers of the message of Jesus; leaders in prayer; and witness in their lives of Jesus’ Gospel message of justice and mercy.
Volunteers serve weekly as catechists or assistants on Sunday mornings & Wednesday afternoons. Children 4 years old through the 5th grade gather at these sessions.
Others serve monthly as leaders for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 9AM Mass.
There is a team who works with the 6,7,8th grades on Wednesday evenings.
The RCIA process is always looking for sponsors to journey with those becoming Catholic. Classes meet on Mondays from 7-9 PM.
There are special projects where help is needed. Volunteers are needed to coordinate the “lunches for the homeless”.
In other areas, coordinators are needed for monthly group projects: “Special snacks” coordinator; and other events that come up.
All adults who work with children are required by our Diocese to be fingerprinted and are to complete an online training on “Child Safety”.
